Nixon's Law & Order Storyline Borrowed From Spider-man Saga

Sex & The City star Cynthia Nixon is to play a troubled theatre director in an upcoming episode of cop drama Law & Order: Criminal Intent, which appears to use problem-plagued musical Spider-man: Turn Off The Dark as its inspiration.

For the fictional, ripped-from-the-headlines drama, Nixon will become a murder suspect when a stunt in her ambitious production of Icarus goes wrong and a castmember is killed.

No one died in Julie Taymor's much-maligned Spider-Man musical, but a handful of castmembers were injured when stunts went awry last year. Taymor was not to blame for the safety issues.

Turn Off the Dark preview performances were stalled following a safety investigation in February, and Taymor departed as director. The show will open for business again in June.
